3rd Annual Jesse Owens 5K Fun Run & Walk
Come join the Mountain Park Team as we celebrate the legacy of Jesse Owens at our Jesse Owens 5k Fun Run/Walk & Resource Fair. This is a free community event with a resource fair, music, and games. This year is an extra special year as we will also be celebrating the grand re-opening of our newly renovated Jesse Owens Clinic!
Saturday, March 29th, 2025, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Dress attire: athletic/casual
Volunteer Time Blocks & Duties:
· Block 1: 6 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. (4.5 hours)
Duties: set up for race and resource fair. Volunteers will be assigned to a station/team with a station/team leader. Stations for this time block include race set up team, check in table team, and water station team.
· Block 2: 8:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (5.5 hours)
Duties: support for the race, help with resource fair, and help with breakdown of race and resource fair. Volunteers will be assigned to stations/positions with a station/team leader. Stations for this time block include game station team, chalk/bubbles team, finish line team, face paint team, and break down team.
· Full Block: 6 a.m.-1 p.m. (8 hours)
Duties: set up for the race, help support throughout the race/resource fair and help with breakdown of race and resource fair. Volunteers will be assigned to stations/positions with a station/team leader. Stations for this time block include event set up team, event break down team and supporting any positions that may not be filled for the entire event.
Volunteer Roles:
· Event set up team:
Set up starting line by setting up stanchions, cones, inflatable start/finish line, sandbags, medal table, resource fair tables/chairs, tents, trashcans and yard signs for race, inflate balloons for the event, and cover electric cords in flat tape.
· Check-in table team:
Check in race participants and provide t-shirts for participants.
· Game Station Team:
Set up the games (Jenga/Cornhole). Maintain game area and game pieces. Pack and collect games to be put away.
· Face Paint Station Team:
Set up face painting area. While painting the faces of participants, maintain a clean area. Pack, clean, and break down face painting station to be put away.
· Chalk Station & Bubbles Team:
Set up chalk station with materials. Maintain the area for participants to chalk at and provide chalk for those interested. Maintain bubble machine throughout event. Pack and break down chalk/bubble station.
· Water station support team:
Set up water station, provide water for race participants, cheer on race participants, pack & break down water station.
· Finish Line Team:
Maintain snacks/water and medal tables near finish line. Cheer on race participants. Provide medals for race participants.
· Event break down team:
Pack away and break down stanchions, collect cones, take down inflatable start/finish line, collect sandbags, collect electrical cords, break down event tables/chairs, collect yard signs, take tents down, and collect trash cans.
Minimum Age Requirement:
· 16 years and older are welcome to join us.
· Those under 16 with a chaperone are welcome.
