Friendship Bracelets and Encouragement Cards to Celebrate Pride Month

VSUW Heat Relief Kit Build 

Please join us for a Heat Relief Kit build as we gear up for long, hot days across the Valley! As we all know, Phoenix and its surrounding areas are known for excessive heat days. Let's rally together to ensure we can provide kits for those experiencing these intense, outdoor conditions.

Community Build with VSUW and the Orchard Learning Center

Please join Valley of the Sun United Way for an exciting morning of gardening at the new Brooks Community Center to celebrate Earth Day!

About the Orchard: Located in South Phoenix, the Orchard Community Learning Center supports community by creating a flourishing local food system, and offering a wide range of educational opportunities designed to bring awareness to, and ignite passion for urban farming and community exchange.

Ongoing projects include planting a drought-resistant native foods garden, and the transformation of an unused plot of land into an outdoor education classroom and performance space. And of course, the weeding and pruning never ends!

Community Hygiene Kit Build with Valley of the Sun United Way

Come join VSUW to assemble Hygiene Kits for individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. Many are experiencing homelessness for the first time possibly due to a job loss, home foreclosure, medical bills, or a variety of other circumstances. Other individuals have been homeless for a year or more, or multiple periods (chronic), and have a disability.

These kits provide essential personal care items to local individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to help ensure their overall well-being.

Community Snack Pack Build at VSUW

Join us at our office for a Community Snack Pack Build! We will be assembling 1,000 Snack Packs to give out to the community to help combat food insecurity. Beneficiaries include nurses at Title 1 schools, Grassroots non-profit partners and more!

Native American Heritage Month Book-in-a-Bag

Join us at our offices as we celebrate Native American Heritage Month! This month's book will be written or illustrated by Native American authors and stories that uplift Native American culture.

You will be assisting the Orchard Learning Center with tree planting, rock moving, irrigation work, and the development of their new food garden!

Day of Action - Food Distribution with Creighton Community Foundation

Day of Action is a time for us all to join together, roll up our sleeves, and give back to our community. Come join Valley of the Sun United Way and Creighton Community Foundation at their food distributions. They will distribute 400+ boxes (15 tons of food) outdoors under solar panels. 

Volunteers will be provided with gloves, sanitizer, disposable masks, water and snacks.

There are two Shifts:

First shift: 7:00 am – 9:00 am (Making and packing food boxes)

Second shift: 8:30 am – 11:30 am (Distribute boxes through a mobile distribution line)

Day of Action - Painting Project - Salvation Army Estrella Mountain Corps

Day of Action is a time for us all to come together, roll up our sleeves, and give back to our community. Come join Valley of the Sun United Way and Salvation Army Estrella Mountain Corps to help beautify their campus!

You will be assisting with painting their fellowship hall, kitchen, youth rooms and more!
